Glu Mobile: Opportunities Abound, Execution Struggles Persist

Glu Mobile easily surpassed Q4 estimates despite the Katy Perry game flopping. Sustaining games and new investments provide a huge opportunity going forward. The valuation of the stock is already pricing in further game failures not supported by beta tests. Glu Mobile's (NASDAQ: GLUU ) Q4 earnings release and conference call were filled with unanswered questions and promising opportunities. The most immediate takeaway was that the stock overshot on the pessimism with the drop to $2 and is surging over 30% following the news. Glu Mobile: Celebrity Annuity

Glu Mobile has a big plan for celebrity games. The original revenue targets appear farfetched, but the social followers and mega stars might provide more staying power than market expectations. The stock remains amazingly cheap, considering another hit celebrity game and plenty of catalysts throughout this year. With the initial success of another celebrity game, Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) investors can finally start viewing the possibility of a long revenue stream from celebrities. Going over 18 months without a successful celebrity-based game launch since the original  Kim Kardashian: Hollywood  made it impossible for the market to embrace Glu's vision. The stock paid the price, trading below $2 recently.  Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: Long GLUU. Please read the disclaimer page for more details.

Glu Mobile: Will The Rally Last This Time?

Summary Glu Mobile beat Q1'15 expectations. The company continues building on numerous franchises providing more repeatable revenue. Revenue growth in 2015 isn't based on a big hit. Glu Mobile has several upside catalysts including the Tencent deal and a slew of games producing a unexpected hit.   On the surface, the rally in Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) appears eerily similar to last year. Within a short-time period, the mobile-game developer quickly rallied from around the $3.50 range to the $7 range. In reality, the move this time is vastly different and based on more consistent results.  Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: Long GLUU.  Please read the disclaimer page for more details.

More Delays at Glue Mobile Sabotage a Great Deer Hunt

Glu Mobile ( NASDAQ: GLUU     ) shares were absolutely clobbered after the third-quarter earnings report that easily beat estimates. On top of the beat, the mobile game developer increased guidance for the fourth quarter that would typically send a stock soaring. Why was the market so unforgiving this time? The issue with Glu Mobile was twofold. The first issue was that investors had hyped up the release to the extent of expecting unreasonable guidance for the fourth quarter. The second issue and probably most concerning was the unexpected delay in the release of several titles forecasted to contribute highly to fourth-quarter numbers. Read the full article here . Glu Mobile: More Staying Power

Glu Mobile produced Q2 '15 numbers above analyst estimates. The mobile game developer continues to see strong staying power from the top franchises. The stock is incredibly cheap at less than 2x 2016 revenue estimates set to rock higher based on games slipping from 2015.          Each and every quarter, Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) produces improving results while the market focuses on the quarter to quarter game releases. After reporting a solid Q215 beat , the stock is trading down based on some disappointing short-term guidance that doesn't impact long-term expectations. Glu Mobile: Don't Miss Out

Glu Mobile should turn profitable in 2018. Consistent growth from live operations of franchise games has turned the company around. The stock still trades at an extremely low valuation. The quarterly results came and went, yet  Glu Mobile  ( GLUU ) outlined a solid 2018 plan that hardly includes the recently released Taylor Swift game. As my  previous research  presented, the mobile-game developer has a growth plan that doesn't rely on new games that will drive the stock price higher. Any future big hit is only a bonus. Glu Mobile: Katy Perry Games Has Double The Revenue Potential

Summary Glu Mobile smashed Q4 earnings estimates due to in large part to the lasting success of the Kim Kardashian game. The mobile game developer signed an exclusive deal with Katy Perry to produce a game for release in late 2015. Stock remains attractively priced at only $530 million with huge potential upside from the Katy Perry game due to large fan base. Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) announced blowout Q414 earnings along with the signing of a five-year, exclusive mobile gaming partnership with singer Katy Perry. After a year of record revenue for the mobile game developer, based mostly of the success of the Kim Kardashian game, a comparison of social media fandom between the two stars could portend a higher level of success for the Katy Perry game. Glu Mobile: Beast Mode

Anybody following here knows that Glu Mobile ( GLUU ) has long been a strong buy. The mobile-game developer struggled with consistency until the CEO was replaced a few years back. The stock is now hitting all-time highs with a breakout above $8.

Unexpected Curves From Glu Mobile Won't Impress the Market

Following another quarter of disappointing game releases, the mobile gaming developer Glu Mobile ( NASDAQ: GLUU     ) has again thrown investors more curves. This time the news items were actually pleasantly surprising, including the announcement of plans to develop a game based on curvy Kim Kardashian, and the ultimate surprise of releasing a game developed for Google ( NASDAQ: GOOG     ) Glass. Both developments are particularly intriguing considering the previous delay of games considered important for the fourth quarter. Neither of these games appear overly material to 2014 results, but it's notable that some considerable time was undertaken to develop these concepts and questions the ability to focus at the firm. Though impressive on the resume, will having the first game developed for Google Glass really provide any competitive advantage going forward? Read the full article here . Disclosure: Long GLUU. Glu Mobile Inc. Is Real

The recent results of Glu Mobile ( NASDAQ: GLUU     ) suggest the mobile game developer is finally hitting full stride. The company solidly smashed previous guidance for a second straight quarter and now looks more likely to reach its high goals for the rest of the year and into 2015. Possibly more important, the company has turned a profit in the last couple of quarters, proving that the concept can deliver. The mobile game sector has been under pressure due to the weak IPO from King Digital Entertainment ( NYSE: KING     ) . While King Digital and Zynga ( NASDAQ: ZNGA     ) before it were plagued by one-hit wonders that the companies couldn't repeat, Glu Mobile is starting to generate solid repeatable results based on small hit franchises. Glu Mobile Set To Crush Q1 Guidance

The new celebrity game is a big hit even prior to the official release. The Kendall & Kylie game brings an additional game into the celebrity theme to test the ability to incrementally grow the concept. Based on initial success, Glu Mobile is on pace to smash Q1 guidance. After the failed release of the Katy Perry Pop game, Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) sank an incredible amount. The stock fell all the way to a low of $1.98 with the recent market selloff, but my recommendation remained firm that large opportunities existed for a big rebound. Out Fox The $treet - November 25, 2019

Image
Stocks to watch on Monday for the shortened Thanksgiving week: Glu Mobile (GLUU) - the market cap is down to $750 million with the stock down to nearly $5. The valuation remains as compelling as the chart from earlier in November. Glu Mobile is an absolute bargain whether or not Disney Sorcerer's Arena is a hit in Q1 or not. Aurora Cannabis (ACB) - the conversion of substantially all of a C$230 million convertible debt was a positive move for the company. The stock will suffer in the short term as these new shareholders have no restrictions on dumping the stock. Aurora Cannabis will need more cash to fund operating losses. As the company resolves some more of their funding issues and 2020 catalysts kick into full force, the stock will become a buy when the stock reaches $2. AMD (AMD) - new Ryzen Threadripper chips are just another reason to own AMD on the path to $50 and possibly much higher. The chip company is only starting the process of taking market share from ...

Glu Mobile - QuizUp Potential

Image
Along with the Q4 release was news that Glu Mobile (GLUU) purchased game developer Plain Vanilla Corp. The company paid $7.5 million in a convertible note for a minority stake in the maker of the game QuizUp . The deal apparently gives Glu the opportunity to purchase the company in the next 15 months at a pre-agreed price. The deal involves Glu Mobile helping Plain Vanilla develop a QuizUp television program for NBC Universal. Also, Glu is going to help Plain Vanilla monetize the mobile game that isn't being done currently. Based on the revenue generated by fellow trivia game Trivia Crack , QuizUp has tons of potential for generating sizable revenues. Currently, Trivia Crack makes roughly $50,000 on a daily basis with the iPhone in the U.S. Of course, Trivia Crack has slightly higher download rankings so these numbers might not be achievable. Glu Mobile: Why Are You Selling?

Glu Mobile easily soared past Q1 estimates, but the stock plunged on guidance. The updated guidance shouldn't have surprised anybody watching the performance of existing games. The stock remains an extreme bargain when it dips down close to $2 considering the cash balance, revenue streams, and IP. After reporting  Q1 results ,  Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU )  traded down 15% as the market was somehow disappointed with so-called weak guidance. Considering the mobile game developer had a series of disappointing game releases before the recent success of  Tap Sports Baseball 2016 , one has to wonder about how the company disappointed any realistic expectations going into results.  Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: Long GLUU. Glu Mobile: Celebrity Theme Shows Encouraging Promise

Glu Mobile is a bargain trading below $3.50 even without a hit. The celebrity games offer the promise for another big hit with several opportunities in the pipeline. The surprising success of celebrity games over the Thanksgiving holiday should spark interest in the stock. The prime reason my investment thesis on Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) didn't change after the disappointing Q3 results was the upcoming lineup in celebrity games. The combination with the lower stock price offered a very compelling entry point considering the primary 2H games weren't released yet. The market though wasn't pleased with the delays of these games and indiscriminately sold the stock. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha. Disclosure: Long GLUU. Glu Mobile: Trend Intact

Glu Mobile reported solid Q3 results. The company remains on track to generate bookings approaching $500 million in the next year or so. The stock remains exceptionally cheap at a P/S ratio of 2x. The new and improved  Glu Mobile  ( GLUU ) continues to chug along producing consistently better results. My  investment thesis  that the stock is one hit game away from a big rally is even truer now with the stock selling off below $7 after the tech wreck of October. Glu Mobile: Realistic 2020 Projections?

Glu Mobile provided aggressive 2020 revenue projections. The long-term forecasts don't match the short-term forecasts presented in each earnings report. The analysis suggests the 2020 projections are more probable due to emerging mobile-game trends and a consistent history of beating short-term targets. The stock is attractively valued at around $6.50 based on the potential to smash analyst revenue estimates for 2015 and beyond. As discussed in a previous article , Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) provided an exceptionally large revenue target for 2020 at their Analyst Day. These targets are usually scary to see from a corporation when a business such as mobile games is inherently difficult to predict. It's best for the company to stick to beating one-year goals. The Staying Power of Kim Kardashian Can Propel Glu Mobile Shares Higher

The initial success of the Kim Kardashian game has surprised even this owner of Glu Mobile ( NASDAQ: GLUU     ) stock. It's another sign that the small game developer continues to advance its mobile gaming platform mostly focused on action shooter games such as the previous successful Deer Hunter 2014 .   The staying power of Kim Kardashian could propel the game, and the stock, into the upper echelon of gaming stocks that includes King Digital Entertainment plc ( NYSE: KING     ) and Zynga ( NASDAQ: ZNGA     ) that sport much larger stock valuations. Staying Invested In Zynga

Summary New mobile game releases continue to struggle. Assets including cash prevent significant downside risks. Results from other mobile games continue to suggest that brands and franchises have an inside tract to success.  While smaller mobile game rival Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU ) continues producing daily download stars, Zynga (NASDAQ: ZNGA ) can't seem to catch a break. The company recently released a game into a new genre and updated a long-term winner with limited success on the daily charts.   Read the full article at Seeking Alpha.   Disclosure: Long ZNGA, GLUU. Glu Mobile: Home Run Potential

Glu Mobile successfully launched the latest version of the Tap Sports Baseball franchise. The company still offers the home run potential of new games though recent history has been disappointing. The stock is extremely cheap based on existing franchises trading at only 1.35x forward revenue estimates. Despite the volatile market for the tech sector in 2018,  Glu Mobile  ( GLUU ) has generally held up well. The stock started the year around $3.60 and currently trades near $3.70 due to the extreme value in the stock and the stability provided by franchise games like Tap Sports Baseball.
