Twitter: Jack Dorsey's Departure Was Necessary, But Not A Definite Fix

Image
Twitter CEO and Co-Founder Jack Dorsey steps down immediately replaced by the relatively unknown current CTO. The social media company is on the cusp of game-changing subscription services and could use a focused CEO. The stock is a buy trading at less than 6x forward EV/S, but the CEO change is no guarantee of immediate success. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » The big market moving news of the day was that  Twitter  ( TWTR ) CEO Jack Dorsey  stepped down immediately . The stock is now down on the day, as the market probably wanted an external candidate or an outright sell of the business for a quick gain. My  investment thesis  remains Bullish on the stock looking for focused leadership to build out the subscription business to accelerate growth. WM Technology: Illicit Market Dilemma

Image
WM Technology posted dismal results for the 3Q of 2021. The company has a promising cannabis marketplace and SaaS business too, focused on the California market impacted by illicit sales. The stock is appealing at $8 due to long-term 30% growth rates, but investors should watch from the sidelines until the stock and business stabilize. Looking for a portfolio of ideas like this one? Members of Out Fox The Street get exclusive access to our model portfolio.  Learn More » The U.S. cannabis space has had a very tough few months and  WM Technology  ( MAPS ) now leads the pack with disappointing shareholders. The company was surprisingly hit by reduced demand in California due to a surge in the illicit market. My  investment thesis  remains Bullish on the stock over the long term, but WM Technology needs to find a bottom before shareholders buy more shares. Payoneer: Firing On Most Cylinders

Image
Payoneer hiked 2021 revenue guidance after smashing Q3'21 estimates. The fintech isn't even firing on all cylinders due to supply chain issues and low cross-border travel. The stock trades at a cheap 5.6x EV/S targets for 2022. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: Long PAYO. Please review the disclaimer page for more details.  Update - Nov. 28  Payoneer hasn't held up well following the big earnings boost, but the stock held up well in the market crash on Friday. The stock below $8 is a massive buy.

Twitter: Blue To The Rescue

Image
Twitter finally launched the Blue subscription service in the U.S. The company is building a suite of subscription services that now include Super Followers and Ticketed Spaces. The stock is cheap with subscription services leading to the company beating 2023 revenue targets of $7.5 billion. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » While Twitter ( TWTR ) investors are probably blue over the recent stock action, the full launch of the Twitter Blue service is a big step forward for the business. The social media player moving beyond a digital ad business into subscriptions provides a substantial boost to the market valuation. My  investment thesis  remains very bullish on the stock after this dip back to the low $50s. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: Long TWTR. Please review the disclaimer page for more details.  Update - Nov. 22 Appears Twitter is headed to $45 despite all of the positi

Affirm: Buying Growth

Image
Affirm announced an exclusive deal with Amazon lasting just 13 months at the cost of 22 million shares. The BNPL provider forecasts massive 13% operating margin losses this year before factoring in the $2+ billion in-effect marketing cost for the Amazon deal. The stock now trades at an absurd $53 billion market cap which is ~90x FY22 net revenues. I do much more than just articles at Out Fox The Street: Members get access to model portfolios, regular updates, a chat room, and more.  Learn More » Affirm  ( AFRM ) is surging again following news of the BNPL deal with  Amazon  ( AMZN ) expanding to an exclusive deal. The deal comes at a very high cost to shareholders over looked by the market. My  investment thesis  remains Bearish on the stock, especially after an irrational rally on the deal with the leading e-commerce retailer. Velodyne Lidar: Pipeline Builds, Execution Wanes

Image
Velodyne Lidar reported another disaster quarter with Q3'21 revenues missing analyst targets by a wide margin. The company guided to ongoing weakness in Q4'21, but the contract pipeline continues to build. The stock only trades at ~3x conservative '23 revenue targets, but the turnaround will be volatile. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » In just a year as a public company,  Velodyne Lidar  ( VLDR ) has gone from lidar sensor market leader to a dysfunctional company. The market opportunity remains as impressive as prior, but the company has to improve execution in the competitive market. My  investment thesis  remains Bullish on the stock due to the strong contract pipeline and reduced market cap. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: No position mentioned. Zynga: Reopening Pain Just Ended

Image
Zynga boosted Q4'21 bookings guidance setting Q3 as the trough from the reopening. The company has a solid new game launch sequence plus acquisitions to boost bookings going forward. The stock is far too cheap trading at just 10x logical '22 EBITDA targets. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » The market always has amazing dynamics causing investors to over extrapolate on short-term trends.  Zynga  ( ZNGA ) benefitted from the covid boost during 2020 and now the company is struggling to report growth due to the tough comps from last year. My  investment thesis  is very Bullish on the stock following the dip below $7 despite strong results. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: Long ZNGA. Please review the disclaimer page for more details.  Update - Jan. 10 Interesting deal, glad part of the deal is in cash. Similar to Glu Mobile not sure why Zynga felt the need to cash out here.

Skillz: No Improvement In Results

Image
Skillz failed to meet Q3'21 revenue targets despite more aggressive spending in Sales & Marketing. The company outspent revenues again driving the adjusted EBITDA loss up to $41.7 million. The stock remains expensive at 9x aggressive 2022 revenue targets. Looking for a helping hand in the market? Members of Out Fox The Street get exclusive ideas and guidance to navigate any climate.  Learn More » After another disappointing quarter,  Skillz  ( SKLZ ) appears headed even lower. The stock was priced irrationally after closing a SPAC deal earlier this year and the company still hasn't proven the business model isn't reliant on irrational marketing spending. My  investment thesis  is Neutral on the stock until the company is more efficient with marketing spending and can drive organic user growth. Flora Growth: Cheap Cannabis Appeal

Flora Growth promises a long-term growth story supplying the world with low-cost cannabis cultivation. The company has reported minimal revenues so far following an IPO in May and is only now ramping up the business. The stock is difficult to buy until the Flora Growth provides more meaningful financials for analysis. Looking for a portfolio of ideas like this one?   Spotify reported solid Q3'21 earnings with revenue growing 27%. The company is poised to build a second strong revenue stream via Ad-Supported revenues. The stock is cheap compared to peers at only 4x '22 sales targets. Looking for more investing ideas like this one?
