Joby Aviation: Held Back By Untimely Capital Raises

Image
Joby Aviation is deeply undervalued at $7, despite strong progress toward eVTOL certification and air taxi launch. The potential $750M ATM capital raise, linked to the $500M Resonant Sciences acquisition, pressures the stock but adds a $100M+ revenue defense unit. JOBY is on track for a $2B revenue target by 2030, with near-term catalysts including eIPP services in Dallas-Fort Worth and Dubai. Certification delays and ongoing capital raises remain key risks, but current weakness offers a compelling buying opportunity. Joby Aviation, Inc.  ( JOBY ) appears to have a bright future, but the company can't stop making untimely capital raises. The stock trades at multi-year lows despite the progress towards eVTOL certification and air taxi  launch. My  investment thesis  remains ultra Bullish on the stock trading around $7, but Joby Aviation is unlikely to rally as long as the company constantly raises capital regardless of the stock price. Archer Aviation: Taking Off With Anduril

Image
Archer Aviation remains out of favor despite major announcements on new product developments on top of the promising air taxi business. The new Halo autonomous VTOL, developed with Anduril, targets commercial payload transportation, opening up a new market opportunity. The eVTOL manufacturer is still progressing towards certification of their eVTOL, unlocking a massive order backlog. ACHR stock trades below $5 with a $3.5 billion market value despite defense sector stocks obtaining far higher valuations. Looking for a portfolio of ideas like this one? Members of Out Fox The Street get exclusive access to our subscriber-only portfolios.  Learn More » Archer Aviation Inc.  ( ACHR ) and the eVTOL space are so out of favor right now that a big announcement with a defense sector darling didn't generate a lasting move in the stock. Joby Aviation: Full-Speed Ahead

Image
Joby Aviation accelerates progress with the U.S. eIPP program, de-risking FAA certification delays. The company was approved for 5 programs covering operations in 10 different states, setting up Joby for rapid expansion on FAA certification. Joby Aviation has manufacturing plans for nearly 50 aircraft in 2027 with a production value of $250 million, depending on how the company utilizes the aircraft. The stock is far more appealing after the 50% dip since the 2025 highs and another capital raise for a pro forma cash balance of $250 million. Joby Aviation, Inc.  ( JOBY ), is now full-speed ahead with the eIPP (eVTOL Integration Pilot Program) in the U.S. The eVTOL manufacturer now has the opportunity to prove out the air taxi thesis without waiting on  the FAA certification to ramp up operations and plans for 2027. My  investment thesis  is ultra Bullish on the stock after this dip back to only $9. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: No position...

Archer Aviation: Unlikely To Be Stuck At $10 For Much Longer

Image
Update - Oct. 7, 2025 Archer Aviation has soared here on speculation of a partnership with Tesla, though such a move doesn't make a lot of sense. The stock likely hits resistance here at $13.50 again.  Original article posted on Aug. 14 Archer Aviation Inc. continues to unlock massive global opportunities in the air taxi and defense sectors. The company has disappointed the market with recent aircraft design changes and pilot testing, but progress towards commercialization is still being made. Strategic partnerships, especially with Anduril, and international contracts provide near-term revenue and position Archer for commercial and defense market growth. ACHR stock trades far below the market values of companies with similar market opportunities in the eVTOL and defense space. While  Archer Aviation, Inc.  ( NYSE: ACHR ) has seemed like the company operates in a hot space, the stock has traded mostly flat all year. The eVTOL aircraft manufacturer pushing into the defense...

Joby Aviation: $1 Billion Saudi Signal

Image
Update - July 16, 2025 Joby Aviation has now soared over 100% in the last month with the market cap jumping to nearly $14 billion. The stock is at all-time highs while the eVTOL is still is the process of certifying aircraft. Investors might want to pump the brakes.  Original article posted on June 5 Joby Aviation, Inc. surged on Toyota's $250M investment, boosting liquidity to $1.3B and reinforcing their manufacturing partnership. The air taxi company is progressing towards commercial launch, with pilot testing in Dubai and a potential $1B+ sales agreement in Saudi Arabia. Joby Aviation has production ramp-up plans for up to 500 eVTOLs annually, with a mix of direct sales and air taxi operations driving future revenue. JOBY stock is attractive on dips towards $7 due to certification and launch risks. Looking for a portfolio of ideas like this one? Archer Aviation: Launch Edition To The Rescue (Rating Upgrade)

Image
Update - May 16, 2025 Archer Aviation has rallied to $14 today on the news yesterday regarding the LA28 Olympics. Through the exclusive partnership, Archer's Midnight eVTOL aircraft will be integrated across the LA Olympic Games in various ways, such as transporting VIPs, fans, and stakeholders transportation, while also electrifying vertiport take-off-and-landing hubs for key venues and providing support for emergency services and security. -The company said it will introduce its Midnight eVTOL aircraft to Los Angeles in partnership with the LA Olympics organization. The event is expected to host over 15 million visitors and broadcast to billions of viewers globally over the course of the Games...

Joby Aviation: Wait For A Cooling Off Period

Joby Aviation raised substantial capital in Q4, boosting its cash access to $1.4 billion, and is progressing towards FAA certification and international expansion. The company is constructing facilities in Ohio and Dubai, with plans for a 4-vertiport network in Dubai, aiming for a 2025 launch. Investors should be cautious, as any FAA certification delays could impact the stock; consider holding additional capital for potential cheaper entry points. Joby Aviation, Inc.  ( NYSE: JOBY ) has just flown since completing an underwriting for additional capital in late October. The air taxi space and the general market for speculative stocks have soared in the last few months. My  investment thesis  is more Neutral on the stock due to the market valuation after more than a double for Joby Aviation in the last few months, while the business still faces some large regulatory hurdles and startup risks. Joby Aviation: Commercial Launch Around The Corner

Image
Update - Oct. 2, 2024 Joby Aviation is primed for a big 2025 with another investment from Toyota while the stock is set to bounce off support.  Shares of Joby Aviation ( NYSE: JOBY ) were launched more than  20% higher  in Wednesday’s premarket trading thanks to another $500M investment by Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corp ( NYSE: TM ). The investment will enable Joby ( JOBY ) to  expand its commercialization of an electric air taxi and bring Toyota’s ( TM ) total investment in Joby ( JOBY ) to $894M. The investment will be made in the form of cash for common stock. “The knowledge and support shared by Toyota have been instrumental in Joby's success, and we look forward to deepening our relationship as we deliver on our shared vision for the future of air travel," Joby founder and CEO JoeBen Bevirt said in a  statement . Joby Aviation: Another Dip Opportunity

Image
Update - Oct. 10, 2023 Joby got hit with a shot attack on Tuesday. Since the stock was already down substantially from the highs, the short report issue is typically when the stock his the lows.  -Joby Aviation (NYSE:JOBY) dropped 5% after a new short report from Kerrisdale Capital on the electric vehicle-take-off-and-landing company. -Kerrisdale, which is short Joby (JOBY), claims that the company is "years away from generating operating revenue" and doesn't expect it "will ever earn an economic profit," according to the short report on Tuesday.   Original article posted on Oct. 5 Joby Aviation, Inc. stock has dropped nearly 50% since June despite positive developments, making it an attractive investment opportunity at $6. The company has started flight tests with pilots on board, moving closer to FAA certification. Joby plans to develop a production facility in Ohio capable of producing 500 aircraft per year, further supporting its path to commercialization. T...

Archer Aviation: Flying Higher, But Don't Chase

See all of our investments  here »   Update - Oct. 4, 2023 Guess every dollar helps at this point. -Archer Aviation (NYSE:ACHR) Wednesday said the U.S. Air Force provided the company with its first installment of nearly $1M on their recently announced contracts valued at up to $142 million. Original article posted on Aug. 21 Archer Aviation has seen a surge in stock market interest after attracting investments from key industry partners and investors. The company aims to launch eVTOL production and commercial services in 2025, with plans to deliver the first Midnight aircraft to the DoD in late 2023. The stock has an attractive valuation compared to the opportunity, but investors should buy weakness over the next 18 month crawl towards material revenues. In a sudden move,  Archer Aviation  ( NYSE: ACHR ) has become a darling of the stock market. The eVTOL aircraft manufacturer was nearly le...

Joby Aviation: Strategic Cash Raise

Image
Update - June 15, 2023 Joby has nearly doubled now since a strategic capital raise in early May. The stock market has become more  bullish  on former SPACs, but the capital raise helped  provide  more confidence in the  company  making it to eVTOL production. Even at $8 now, Joby is likely cheap considering the SPAC deal was completed years ago at $10.  Original article posted on May 5.  Joby Aviation completed a stock offering to raise another $180 million, with the stock trading at $4. The eVTOL manufacturer recently expanded a deal with the DoD, which includes the delivery of 2 aircraft to the U.S. Air Force in early 2024. Joby Aviation stock is cheap, trading at all-time lows, while the company remains on target for aircraft certification and production launch in the next year. Blade Air Mobility: Bargain Bin

Image
Blade Air Mobility continues to build a leading urban air mobility platform, while others discuss future plans. The company is consolidating a fragmented business, with plans to approach $200 million in '23 revenues. Blade Air Mobility stock trades far below 1x EV/S targets for '23. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More »   As a lot of companies talk about an urban air mobility future,  Blade Air Mobility, Inc.  ( NASDAQ: BLDE ) continues to build the platform of the future. The company is locking in routes and customers using existing helicopters, awaiting the eventual  launch of EVAs (electric vertical aircraft). My  investment thesis  remains ultra Bullish on the future UAM (urban air mobility) stock trading at the lows at $3.50 due to the banking crisis. Joby Aviation Doesn't Need Immediate Cash, Don't Panic

Joby Aviation continues to proceed towards 2024 operations launch. The company filed a shelf registration to raise up to $1.0 billion, but the eVTOL manufacturer already has a cash balance of $1.2 billion. The stock isn't fully appreciating the business opportunity in the future. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More »   The flying taxi future appears bright, but firms like  Joby Aviation  ( NYSE: JOBY ) will spend billions over the next few years to certify and produce new aircraft. The good news for investors is that the eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and  landing) manufacturer has plenty of cash to produce aircraft and start operations making the selloff following the proposal of selling securities as irrational. My  investment thesis  remains Bullish on the stock, as the company gets closer to FAA certification. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  D...

Eve Holding: Too Early To Play Impressive Backlog

Eve announces another non-binding order to add to an existing strong order book. The eVTOL manufacturer doesn't forecast obtaining certification until 2026 with production of up to 75 aircraft that year. The stock isn't appealing after surging back above $10 while competitors trade at major discounts to SPAC prices. The SPAC market has been so beaten up that it's rare to see a de-SPAC deal trading above $10.  Eve Holding  ( NYSE: EVEX ) is one such stock in the urban air mobility sector with a promising backlog of eVTOL  orders. My investment thesis is more Neutral on the valuation due to the lengthy certification process and non-binding orders for this eVTOL manufacturer. Lilium: Future Of Regional Transportation

Lilium and Qell Acquisition completed the SPAC business combination last week. The SPAC was hit with 65% of SPAC shareholders redeeming shares, but the transaction still raised $584 million due to a large PIPE at $10. The stock is compelling below the $10 PIPE price for shareholders willing to ride the high volatility in the eVTOL space. Looking for more investing ideas like this one? Get them exclusively at Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » The recent closing of the SPAC deal between  Lilium GmbH  ( LILM ) and Qell Acquisition Corp. enters another public company into the electric air mobility space. The company is unique in its focus on developing an all-electric jet targeted on regional transportation, as opposed to the air taxi focus of other competitors. My investment thesis is Neutral on the stock with the rally back to nearly $11, following the closure of the deal with other peer stocks trading below $10.
