Mobileye Global: Still Priced For Perfection

Image
This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More »   Update - June 5, 2023 Intel dumping shares should cap the stock in MobilEye following the irrational double top at $46. -Mobileye Global (NASDAQ:MBLY) on Monday announced the commencement of a secondary stock offering of up to 35M of its class A shares by a unit of Intel (INTC). -The Intel (INTC) unit selling the shares in the offering is Intel Overseas Funding Corporation. Update May 25, 2023   The Wells Fargo analyst sounds really bullish, but the price target only offers 25% upside. The better bet is Luminar Tech. ( LAZR )  at these prices. -Mobileye (NASDAQ:MBLY) shares rose more than 4% in pre-market trading on Thursday as Wells Fargo started coverage on the autonomous driving semiconductor company with an overweight rating. -Analyst Aaron Rakers, who also put a per-share price target of $50 on Mobileye (MBLY), noted that the company is ...

indie Semi: Ignore CFO Selling Shares

Image
indie Semi guided to compelling growth in Q4'21 with strong growth forecast for the years ahead. The CFO dumping 200,000 shares was less than desirable considering the opportunity in the autotech space. The stock is attractively priced at only 6x '23 sales targets considering the large $2.6 billion backlog. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » The autotech sector remains in its infancy while related stocks haven't fared very well in the public markets.  indie Semiconductor  ( INDI ) recently irrationally dipped back to the lows after the CFO sold a large position. My  investment thesis  remains very Bullish on the stock after falling back to $12, as the backlog continues to surge. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: No position mentioned. Aurora Innovation: De-SPAC Pain Ahead

Aurora Innovation is working to close a business combination with Reinvent Technology Partners Y. The stock has an implied equity valuation of $13 billion with $11 billion assigned to the value of Aurora Innovation. The company lacks material commercial operations until 2026 limiting the likely positive view on the stock for years. Looking for more investing ideas like this one? Get them exclusively at Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » The self-driving technology sector is one of the hottest areas for investment, but the SPAC pathway to the public markets isn't rewarding shareholders in the short term. Market leader  Aurora Innovation  agreed to a  business combination  with  Reinvent Technology Partners Y  ( RTPY ) back in July and the recent price isn't suggestive of a great outcome to the de-SPAC transaction. My investment thesis is Neutral on the stock until after the deal is done, especially at this valuation. Read the full article on Seek...

Velodyne Lidar: Painful Progress

Image
Velodyne Lidar reported a solid Q1 earnings report, but the company disappointed with the 2021 guidance. The company still expects sales to accelerate once Covid restrictions are lifted in areas like Europe and Asia. The stock is cheap with a $2 billion valuation and 29 multi-year agreements already in place. This idea was discussed in more depth with members of my private investing community, Out Fox The Street.  Learn More » The biggest issue when the lidar sensor companies came public via SPACs was whether the market could handle the unpredictable nature of the development phase in the space. Velodyne Lidar ( VLDR ) continues to add multi-year agreements and expand the pipeline, but the stock has fallen due to disappointing quarterly results. My  investment thesis  remains bullish on the stock and the sector. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha.  Disclosure: No position mentioned. Tesla: Autonomous Fleet Of The Future

Image
Investors negative on   Tesla (TSLA)   are possibly too focused on quarterly delivery numbers. Telsa has a potentially bright future in an autonomous fleet that earns owners money when they aren't using the vehicle. At least, Elon Musk sees such a future as a competitor against   Lyft (LYFT)   and   Uber (UBER) .
